                                                           Contest Winners Announced!

“Wagoner Your Christmas Destination” event organizers wanted to kick off the Christmas Season
with a new tradition. The City of Wagoner Municipality with The Ft. Gibson Lake Association and
The City of Wagoner Economic Development Authority Sponsored the inaugural Christmas Decorating Contest.

“We are pleased to support this new program. Our Board believes the media focus on television, radio
and print media will increase traffic and will pay future dividends to our city’s economic activity.  Showcasing our existing business and highlighting our quality of life with friendly residential competitions for the Christmas
Decorations has been so much fun!” said TCWEDA Chair Pamela Stephens-Karnes.  Fort Gibson Lake Association Director Lisa Snell adds “It is also a great time to promote our Ft. Gibson Lake as a great place for recreation
year-round. It was a fun way to include our lake area residents.      Entries were judged in two categories “Best Residential and Best Business Tree Decorating.”

Residential had seven judging areas and were awarded 1-10 points for each area: Including unique
design, creative Use of Lights, use of additional decorations, props, their story line/theme, the actual
display/placement of decorations and overall presentation. Out of town judges were secured for the
task of judging all the diverse entries from traditional to the whimsical.  The final tally revealed only one
point separated first and second place.
